Settled in the early 1800s, Carstairs is a family-friendly town situated in south-central Alberta. The nearest major city is Calgary, located 48 km (30 mi) south of Carstairs. The town is a great place to escape to for a getaway and enjoy the many parks and playgrounds or the 18-hole golf course, Carstairs Golf Club. Area hot spots include Custom Woolen Mills which produces woolen and exotic fiber products and PaSu Farm, a working sheep farm featuring animals, a restaurant and a boutique. Popular yearly events include the Mountain View Music Fest and the Carstairs Beef and Barley Days in the summer months and the Carstairs Pumpkin Festival in the fall. Designated as an historic site, Roulston Museum offers visitors the opportunity to view artifacts and pictures pertinent to local life from the town's settlement to the present.
